A very wise man asked me "Does the Bible contain the Word of God?". I quickly shot back, "of course!" ... wrong answer. The Bible does not contain the Word of God, the Bible is the Word of God. There's a big difference, and it makes all the difference in the world. People tend to pick and choose which words they want to believe are the words of God, and discount the ones that highlight their own sinful nature.
I see the corruption of Holy Scripture as a direct slap in the face of God. Some label me a fundamentalist, or as they like to try and degrade me, a "fundie". If that means believing in the Bible as the True Word of God, then I plead guilty!
I've found one thing these people all have in common, and that is the "once saved, always saved" cry of sinners not quite ready to give up their favorite sin. "I am a sinner saved by Grace!", they shout proudly. Sorry folks, Jesus died so you don't have to continue to live in sin ... unless you want to. It's a simple matter of laying your old self down, and picking up the Cross and making a daily sacrifice of your sin nature. We don't have to live in sin.
Most sin is directly related to a selfishness that folks can't let go of. There comes a point when you have to realize that it ain't about you. Do you consider yourself exceptional? That arrogance and pride is sin. Do you accept sexual sin as a sign of the times? It's still as sinful as it ever was. Is abortion or homosexuality OK with you, just because it's so prevalent? Sorry, sin is sin, and all are equally bad.
The Bible is very clear on how we are to conduct ourselves, and what is unacceptable to God. How arrogant of man in his puniness to change the words of the Holy Bible to allow him to cling to his sin. The church is full of "christians" who are headed to Hell and don't even realize it because they don't read and obey the Word of God. Preachers and teachers are spreading false doctrine at rates unheard of, simply to fill their slimy pews with lukewarm believers for the sake of contribution.
I used to wonder how God, even as omnipotent as he is could hear every prayer sent up to him. I realize now that there ain't a lot of prayer going up in the air, in reality. The number of those who know how to pray, and actually practice prayer is very small, and a lot of prayers go unheard because God don't know the ones mumbling their petition. They may as well be talking to a rock.
It all leads me to the conclusion that Heaven ain't gonna' be all that crowded.
