A Game Review of My Tribe, By Grubby Games
Storyline
The game begins with the storyline of people stranded on an island after a shipwreck and with no definite objectives on how to play the game.
And to get started, you have to choose an island first among a few and personally I think it doesn't really matter which island you choose from the start. So you get along with that.
As you start to play along, you will start to notice that this is rather a real time simulation game whereby you need to go through different life stages of the characters and if you are curious to see how the characters develop (rather like the ever-famous Sims Series), you will need to buy the game to see what will happen.
If you are feeling lost during the game play, do not worry as you will be given brief instructions on how to get about but do note that you are left very much alone till some certain events happen.
Sound
You will not be expecting any composer music but instead rather some background music of this games that's of waves and wood creaking sound. If you like the sound of the beach, this is a must-play game.
Creativity
To fully enjoy the game, you need to know that it is necessary to control every characters to cater to their needs. What are their needs? You will get to see the feelings in words at the top of the characters and after that you will need to complete certain actions for that character. Does that make you a care-taker? You have to decide for yourself when you play this game!
If you believe in the law of nature...
To make this game interesting, you get to help increase the population of the tribe by building houses for the tribe people to mate. A walking baby (the fruits of the labors) will eventually walk out of the house after the tribe people has successfully mated. You get to enjoy the laws of the past as well as Polygamy is actually allowed!
If you believe in creativity...
And if you are a creative game player, you do get a chance to change and design your clothes after the proper buildings are built but sad to say, by the game trial is up, I still have not got to the clothes design part.
If you believe in Science and Potions...
You get to build a research house and create a scientist character to help you to do researches for better buildings to be built and to invent potions for various purpose (this is a mystery as of now, and you will get to appreciate once you get the full version of the game)
If you like surprises...
As you play along, you will get to enjoy surprises like the presence of Stardust and Moondust and this will help to aid in faster construction and they can also be used as catalyst to create potions. Do we get to see blown-up hair and black smoke?
You will also get to explore the island for crates that are randomly washed up the shore and these crates can help you with the game play.
Graphics
Do not expect any fanciful 3D graphics but rather a simple cartoon type interface like butterflies flying around, waves moving and up and fire swaying left and right.
In general
If you are an adventurous gamer and expect the game to advance in a faster pace, you will be disappointed and also that you will find this game to be boring after a while as you need to wait for things to happen. And events are actually happening slowly and this may just kill you!
But if you do appreciate games like Sims Series and do not mind a simpler version and graphics. This may be a good choice for you. And the areas like Science and Potions are something that is not commonly found in Sims Series. You will slowly fall in love with this game then!
All in all, my personal review rating is a 3/5 based on the 60-minute game trial.
