Hamilton Island ... gateway to the Whitsundays!

Are you looking for a family holiday, a romantic getaway, a sailing adventure or something in between? Perhaps you want an amazing destination for your own perfect day ... a beautiful island wedding.

Whatever it is you are looking for, Hamilton Island has it. It is a destination in its own right as well as the gateway to one of the many resort islands in the Whitsundays group. Launch transfers depart for the mainland and the other islands on a regular basis and meet most flights to the island's airport which has regular flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with both Virgin Blue and JetStar (there is also an airport at Proserpine also known as the Whitsunday Coast airport which is 20 minutes from Airlie Beach by coach transfer with launch transfers to the islands from there as well). There is also a marina at the island where you can moor your boat for a night or 3 or start your own sailing career.

There are many different standards of accommodation on Hamilton Island that range from 3 star apartments or bungalows to 4 star hotel rooms to the 5 star Beach Club and Premium Quality 'qualia' spa resort. There are also a number of self-catering Holiday Properties with 1 to 4 bedrooms available.

Transportation on the island is via golf buggy, pushbike or walking - it is an easy walk from the accommodation to most parts of the island.

The big difference between most island resorts and Hamilton Island is what is available elsewhere on the island. Where you may have two or three dining options available at a resort, Hamilton Island boasts more restaurants and eating options than many towns on the mainland. Do you feel like Italian? How about steak? Gourmet Pizza? Good old Fish 'n' Chips? Whatever you want to eat it is probably available ... Chinese, Pub Grub, a loaf of bread, some cheese and ham for sandwiches from the General Store ... and that's even before you've been to one of the many resort restaurants which include the fine dining 'Beach House'.

There are activities a-plenty on and off Hamilton Island. Bush Walks in the National Park (on the island and mainland), go-karting, the ever popular Wire Flyer, target sports, mini golf, tennis, beach BBQ's ... that's only the on land entertainment. You can jet-ski, sail, kayak, snorkel, SCUBA dive, do a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef or visit Whitehaven Beach ... one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. How about a helicopter flight? Seaplane? Perhaps a round of golf at Laguna Quays (on the mainland) ... whatever YOU want to do you can be pretty sure it's covered. Want to relax your mind and escape the stresses of everyday life ... massage, learn to paint, meditate! Time to party? Dance the night away in one of the nightclubs or perhaps sing karaoke at the Marina Tavern. There is also a fantastic Kids Club (The Clownfish Club) at the resort to give your children a break from you ... or maybe the other way around!
