Best Areas to Live in Washington D.C.
Depending on a person's interests and needs, Washington D.C. has many neighborhoods to offer. One of the most beautiful neighborhoods is Georgetown, although it is pricey and the home to many upper class. Beautifully designed, this neighborhood boasts Victorian and Tudor mansions, with many upscale boutiques and nightclubs spotting its downtown experience. If you have the means to live here, this is one of the most stunning neighborhoods in the world. Home to many celebrities, politicians and millionaires, this town is one of the best areas to live in Washington D.C.
Another historic neighborhood is Capitol Hill, with its many attractions open to the public, and a large residential area. Many politicians own homes here, and the shops are bordered along Pennsylvania Avenue. This area can be pricey as well, but it is a well-designed neighborhood with many things to see and do. If you want to be in the middle of the all the excitement that Washington D.C. has to offer, this is the town for you!
A more family friendly neighborhood is Columbia Heights, with all the amenities of any suburban neighborhood. This is the part of town where you can find the Target and Best Buy. Many families live in this area and there is a large African American and Hispanic community. Most houses are reasonably priced, and it is a revitalization area. There is a great deal of shopping, restaurants, and child friendly activities in this area. This is the area of Washington D.C. that attracts families and young singles as well.
The Southwest Waterfront area has had revitalization as well. This area is building a sports stadium, Water Park, and a marina. The schools have been upgraded and more people are choosing to live here. This area went through a transformation time, but is now a town in which families can raise their children and feel safe. There is also an extensive downtown district, with refurbished nightclubs and restaurants. Many singles move to this area to participate in the downtown experience. It is popular with families and singles alike.
No matter what area of Washington D.C. that one chooses to live in, there is always something to do in the Washington D.C. area. Spending less on a house to live in a suburb and taking the Metro to central events, is a cost effective plan. If a person can afford it, however, the pricier Georgetown and Capitol Hill areas do offer the best living experiences the city has to offer.
