If you have an opportunity to vist the "Mile High City" for any reason you should definitely take advantage of the opportunity. Young or old, rich or poor there are many interesting and educational things to see in this bustling city on the front range of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Denver has an excellent metro bus system and the light rail system that goes to a lot of the top tourist attractions. If you don't like to drive in the city, there are a lot of places you can park your car and take the bus or light rail to a lot of the atrtractions. There are plenty of thngs to see in Metro Denver to keep you busy for a month and then you can head west and south and spend a couple more months and still not see everything.
Let's see now, where should I start?
Let's start at the 16th Street Mall. It is several blocks in the heart of downtown and is strictly a walking area, No vehicles allowed exept an occasiinal police cruiser or emergency vehicle. Even the Denver Police that patrol the 16th Street Mall area do so on horesback. On 16th Street you will run into all types of people from young executives to the hoimeless pan handlers and bums. It is a great place to get a cappucino and set on a bench and just watch the people. There are many little bratwurst and hotdog stands. Some of the best brats in the world come from some of those little street vendors. Whatever your little ol' heart desires can probably be found somewhere on 16th Street Mall.
Young and old alike will find things to enjoy at Six Flags Elitches Gardens amusement complex. There are all kinds of rides from mild to wild. This last year they opened a new lay down roller coaster that loops and flips and is quite a ride I hear. The kids and grandkids love them. They have a very nice water park that adjoins the park and is included in the admission price. I think the kids enjoy the water park as much as the rides. They have a carousel that was built in 1945 and was moved to this location from the original location. Elitches has a really good wooden roller coaster that I still like to ride. In the summer they have a lot of good concerts and they are included in the ticket price,
Then there is the Lakeside Amusement Park at 44th and Sheridan that is still a nice amusement park. It is a little older but still has some really good rides and displays. They have a really good old wooden roller coaster too. It is a little less expensive and has some good eats. As with most places like this eats are not cheap.
