Thai Hybrid varieties. They produce large multi colored flowers that are reminiscent of pansies, but are much more exotic looking. Euphorbias like lots of sun and regular water. The rewards of growing such a fun and exotic looking plant will undoubtedly be worth the effort.
Pitcher plants are fabulous looking and very exotic plants. They are also carnivorous plants. There are several varieties of carnivorous plants, each of which will eat different insects and have different needs. Butterwort is a more compact carnivorous plant that eats fruit flies. It is probably a very useful plant to keep in one's kitchen so that it can eat as many bugs as possible. Venus Fly Trap and Nepenthes or Pitcher plants are also carnivorous plants. They are fascinating to observe. If you want to create an exotic atmosphere, this plant will surely aid in the creation.
Lucky Bamboo is easy to find in grocery stores or discount stores, and it is not demanding at all as plants go. It needs filtered light or shade and is grown in water, so as long as you keep the container refreshed and full of water, they will be very happy. I have some lucky bamboo growing on top of my refrigerator.
Any type of succulent or cactus can look very exotic. They are generally quite easy to grow and don't demand a lot of care. As long as they get sufficient light, they will be quite happy. Another easy to grow succulent that is also very useful, is Aloe Vera. Aloe prefers direct light, but full spectrum lights or plant lights will suffice. It will survive for long amounts of time without water.
Chinese Evergreen is very easy to grow. The markings on each plant will vary. Some will be more silvery while others will be greener. The main thing about Chinese Evergreen is that it likes almost total shade. It too can survive for a long time without water.
Dieffenbachia, more commonly known as the Dumb Cane is probably the easiest plant I have ever grown. Originally found in the tropics, they are easy to find most anywhere where plants are sold. They can and do grow quite large, but as long as you are mindful of that and re-pot them periodically, they will do fine. Dieffenbachia is very adaptable to many conditions. Filtered indirect light or shade is ideal, but too much light can potentially burn the leaves. Be sure to water it on a regular basis. There is no need to fertilize this plant at all. As long as the pot you grow it in is large enough and you water it regularly, it will grow well and thrive.
