Do you need a few Christmas Decoration ideas that cost little or no money?
We always get Christmas cards that we either throw away or put up in boxes each year.Instead you can try this idea. My mother used to make a wall decoration out of them. It is easy to make a Christmas tree starting with taping one card high on the wall. Then you place two under that one. Then three under them two and so on. It is best to use a bigger card for the trunk of the tree. I don't like to see the tape so i fold little pieces on the back of the cards to tape on the wall.My oldest son and I enjoy making one every year. Just a little tip: If you have toddlers you will want to make it a small tree up high. I have a two year old myself and he loves to get a hold of everything.
For this craft you will need:
*Christmas cards
*scotch tape
Another idea my oldest son and I did this year was making ornaments that each have a family picture taped on them. We drew a snow man, star,Christmas tree, and Santa clause separately on white drawing paper. (we traced some out of a coloring book). You want each of your drawings to be big enough to hold a family picture. Then color them the way you like and cut them out. The next step is laying the drawings on cardboard and cutting out the same shape. This is done to add weight and fullness to your ornament. My son and I used the back of old spiral notebooks that we no longer needed. Next you glue your drawing on the cardboard and then using a hole puncher make a hole at the top of each ornament.Tie a little piece of ribbon or string in the hole and tape a family picture on the front of your ornament. It looks nicer if you fold the tape and place it on the back of your picture. Now you place it on the cardboard and you will be able to switch pictures the next year.
For this craft you will need:
*Christmas coloring pages or to draw your own
*white drawing paper
*scissors
*glue stick or Elmer's glue
*scotch tape
*cardboard or the backs of old spiral notebooks
*crayons or colored pencils
*hole puncher
*ribbon or string (any color)
*family pictures
The last idea we came up with was a homemade garland that you can put on your tree, border between rooms, or where you wish to hang it.We cut Christmas ribbon sized up with our border between our kitchen and living room. Then we drew six little candy canes, four little stars, six little Christmas tree's,and six little stockings. Tip: If you have Christmas cookie cutters you can trace them for little designs. Next we colored all the designs we drew and cut them out. Then we wrote a family members name on each of the stars, and the year we made it on the Christmas tree's. Next you tape one of each design an inch or two apart on the ribbon and continue the pattern until all your designs are on the ribbon. Now you can hang it up where ever you like.
For this craft you will need:
*Christmas ribbon
*white drawing paper
*crayons or colored pencils
*scotch tape
I hope you and your family enjoy making these crafts as much as my family did! Happy holidays!
