What do you think the Obama administration's priorities for transparent government should be?

by Theresa Carbone

As with any new election, corruption issues come to light. The new president wants to change the way our country is run, especially when changing from democratic to republican. A transparent government is a means of fighting corruption and holding government officials accountable for their actions. This is a wonderful strategy by the Obama administration to gain the trust of the nation.

The Obama administration is ready to bring change to this nation and in doing so they must first reconfigure the main infrastructure. It is vital for the People to understand what is going on behind closed doors. The Obama administration's plan for live web- casts and searchable databases of public records is ideally a wonderful tool to share this information with the public.

The Obama administration has thought of some great plans for allowing this instant access. However, they still do not have a clear cut idea on exactly how they are going to do it. Many people do not have Internet or access to CNN and channels of that sort, so how are they going to have the most up- to- date information on new government policies and issues?

One idea is text- messaging. The administration can mass text the citizens of the US with daily updates.

Another idea would be to start an Obama Administration weekly newspaper. They can incorporate weekly updates and let the People know of real changes that are taking place.

Obama and his team should encourage public opinion maybe with web polls or polls in the paper so that they can see how their efforts are paying off.

In regards to the transparent government issue, this is going to require a lot of work on part of the Obama administration. The change this country needs is going to have to come from within the government. Obama and his team are definitely in the process of making the idea ideal. With their live web casts and vital information shared with the general public, they shall gain the trust of this country once more. After the meltdown of the Bush administration and the ongoing war in Iraq, the Nation is having a hard time trusting the government. With this new "open" government the People will be able access their rights as citizens on a more communicative level.

In conclusion, the Obama administration is creating a healthy and reliable infrastructure for this country. Other nations may also be able to trust the US more than ever due to their admittance into government policies.
