The key here is spiritual unity.
What is spirituality?
Spirituality is the inner urge to understand the energies of more in our universe than we can conceive with our material senses. Yes, we all have that inner urge to spiritualize our actions. When we are dealing with others we find ethics and morals are a more important ingredient than selfish approach after all.
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: We are not a human being having a spiritual experience. We are a spiritual being having a human experience.
In which case, we get the cart before the horse, so to speak, when we pursue our material interests at the expense of our spirituality. Greed, avarice and selfish attainments keep us locked out of spirituality. And just think how different our world would be if it was run by politicians as well as business owners with a spiritual outlook as the ultimate purpose of all activities.
Do we all have a purpose in spirituality?
Each of us, individually, has this urge to growth in our spirituality. The spirituality is our inner voice or soul calling us to learn and grow in spirituality to blossom for our purposes here and hereafter.
de Chardin saw all human beings as reflections of the holy spirit within. The flowing, growing spirit of spirituality that our earth life was intended to teach us. Progress in spirituality was the ultimate goal to a well lived life.
Just as we all have an individual life to master and focus, so we have individual responsibility to find the spirituality that is the purpose for our life. After all the material goods have been added up, they amount to a hill of beans compared to a spiritual awakening and focus on spirituality.
Is it within all of us?
We are all made up of the physical/material body, the spirit duplicate within, and the mind that governs the whole. As life is all about energies and the velocity of those energies in any aspect of our being, we can see how we can be a finer vibration within that can be overcome by the material energies while in this material world. All the distractions, all the urges, and yet we are intended to grow from a still, small, voice within that calls us through our urges and emotions.
With this individuality of spirituality it takes many faiths to help us focus our energies on growth in spirit. Religion is intended to enhance the individual, not make robots of us in all thinking one way or another. Spirituality of the individual will run through all faiths and to focus this through the lessons of the church will help us find our own community and beyond that our own growth in the group as well as individually.
