- SO COOL WITH SO CO -

-SOUTHERN COMFORT-

"Your tongue has 10,000 taste buds. With its unique flavour of whiskey, fruits, and spices, Southern Comfort gives each one a little something to enjoy".-

I am a Southern Comfort gal and I have been enjoying Southern Comfort for quite a while now. I went through the usual experimenting stage trying out different types of spirit until I discovered this and I loved it at first taste. I was first served this in Florida when I lived there as a teenager. It is a very popular drink in the Southern States as it was born and bred in New Orleans, Louisiana. I love this drink straight up, or with coke in a tall glass full of ice.-

There is just something really special about the taste of 'So Co' as it is now called, and which is now being pitched and marketed at the young and trendy, going by the TV advertising which I find mildly amusing. It's all going on as the young customers fight and jostle their way to the bar. They all seem to be ordering Southern Comfort. The advert is over jolly and even the barmaid has a beaming smile on her face as she pours the So Co from the two optics that she is juggling in either hand. Judging by the advertising this drink is now even bigger than it was before. It was always a popular drink but being dearer than the normal whiskey probably put it in the back ground a little. Southern Comfort is a Whiskey liqueur and at 35% volume it has a nice full strength to it.-

-THE BOTTLE-

I love the shape of the Southern Comfort bottle. It has a nice straight shape which widens at the base. To the top of the bottle it has ridged shaping to the glass and indented panels at the side on which the words: Southern and Comfort are raised on each side respectively. The neck of the bottle is long and slim and finished off with a black wrap with a tasteful red and gold band. The label to the front is impressive and adds greatly to the bottles overall look. Within a dark red edged label is written: Established 1874 and 'Southern Comfort' in gold and coffee colour lettering. Beneath this is an oval shape made in the form of a picture frame with a gold Fleur de Lys to the top. Within this is a typical old Southern scene of a Mississippi steamboat, large country house and a horse drawn carriage, which gives the drink a deep south charm; conjuring up images of saloons and gunfights. It's a good looking label and finishes off the bottle nicely. Beneath this in a raised glass signature in the name of the man who invented Southern
