Anyone who owns a pet knows that their cute, cuddly friend is the top priority in their life. When duty calls, the first question is, "What can I do to make sure my pet will be comfortable while I'm gone?"
The first, and more obvious thing to do, is to ask your close family or friends to take care of your pet while you're gone. This way, your pet will be familiar with who they're with, and less likely to become sad while you're away. Not only that, but your friends and family love your dog almost as much as you do, and will most definitely go out of their way to make sure your pet is as spoiled there as they are at home. However, if your animal happens to be a tarantula or a python, perhaps your skittish friends are not the best ones to care for it.
A more costly, but perhaps more safe option is to enroll your pet in a boarding facility. The facilities these days are nice, comfortable, and are usually a luxurious stay for your pet! Here, if your pet is a dog or a cat, they will get to mingle with others of their kind and recieve proffesional care. A facility that cares for other animals - such as gerbils, hamsters, birds, lizards, etc. - will be a little harder to find. Don't fret, they are out there! The downfall to this is rates can get very, very high. Since boarding is mainly used for short trips, your long trip can result in a long bill.
The more recomendable option is to find a family member or friend to take care of your beloved while you are gone. They'll be just as loving as you are, for no where near as pricey as a boarding facility. Either way, your pet will be waiting for your return happily and cozily!
