Despondent
I talked to a friend of mine one day
Who had too much to say
The tribulations going on in life
Were too much to try and fight
I wanted to be there to talk
To be there to take that walk
But I had problems of my own
Too many to burden alone
I thought I could talk them out
Along with my friend's personal doubts
But I had too much to burden inside
So I left my friend neglected outside
I knew I made that mistake before
For I let my friend down again once more
I should have never said what I said
Because my friend needed me in excess instead
Now I regret the things I did
For I was thinking only of myself instead
I never did that before
And I hope I can make it up to my friend once more
I needed my friend and now my friend needed me
And I let my friend down again selfishly
I hope someday my friend will understand
That I am still here, and will be to the end
I hope I can make it up someday
If my friend will talk to me again one day
And I'm sorry for the grief I caused
To you, my friend, someone I will always love.
