Poetry: A prayer for my children

by Koski

Created on: November 28, 2008

the footprints in the sand

are filled to the brim

with the drool of the sea.

we walked the two of us

down the paths of romance

and our toes grew soft

with sand.

I carried you in my arms

the first year your eyes

met sunny blue skies.

there were two pairs of prints

but you never ceased

to make a difference in our lives

the sea still moaning

as you slept.

my little bundle walks

on his own little feet

and I pray to anyone

the skies and the gods

that watch us tonight...

may he always walk down

the paths that will bring him

the truest of happiness.
