There are so many pet websites around that it can be quite overwhelming to do a search on Google to have millions of results come back... How do you know which sites are the best and most useful?

In this article I outline the best websites to visit whether you have a cat, dog, reptile or other animal. Whether you need answers from a vet, are looking for some general information or just want a fun site where you can hang out with other pet owners.

Pet Health and Informational Websites:

AnimalWorld - Care sheets and information on all types of animals from fish to reptiles and small animals such as rabbits. For the cat owner you should be aware animal world focuses on specific breeds of cats rather than your average moggy.

ReptileKnowledge - Informational articles on pet reptiles such as how to care for your pet plus interesting facts and information on different species both pet reptiles and reptiles in the wild. The only creepy-crawly this website misses out is the spider but if you have a lizard, snake or even tortoise you'll find lots of useful information here.

PetCenter - This website has over 220 pages of dog and cat health care information including articles on nutrition, vaccinations, breeding, training plus case-studies of X-rays and surgeries. Find out what happens in routine operations and what your vet will be looking out for in a physical examination.

AskTheVet - Not keen on taking your pet to the vet unless it's an absolute emergency, perhaps because they get stressed out or it's a long journey to make and it might be that you're worrying about nothing ? Well now you can ask an online vet your question whether health or behaviour and get your answer from a fully trained veterinarian for a small fee.

DogTraining - Full of useful information with articles on separation anxiety, how dogs think, house training, aggression, dog obedience and so much more.

TravelingPets - Whether you need quarantine information and rules and regulations for the country you are traveling too or just somewhere to stay with your pet this is the site to visit which lists over 25,000 pet friendly accommodation.

Insurance - Compare pet insurance plans and get quotes or read articles on topics such as should you get pet insurance, common questions plus how to research pet insurance so you get the best deal for you and your pet.

Just for Fun!

PetSmooch - A social networking site for pets and animal lovers around the world. On pet smooch you can create a profile and journal or blog for your pet. Connect with pet owners who share your interests plus share photos, videos and pet stories.

LolCats - Warning Cute overload! Go browse all of the cute and funny pictures and even videos when you need a giggle. You really will laugh out loud!

Dogster - A mixture of fun and fact for all dog owners with a dog owners manual, health care information for all breeds plus polls to take part in. Join the online community and you might get to see your dog as "Dog of the Day".

PetsInClothes - Submit photos of your pet looking cute and adorable in his, her or your clothes! You can browse and rate other peoples photos which is always fun and worth a giggle, you might even get some ideas on how to dress up your kitty or pooch.
