Poetry: To my daughter

by Robert Anderson

Created on: November 27, 2008

Jack is a slang term used in Scotland and England for being OK and not hurting, as in "I'm alright Jack"

Just Jack

Drop, drop, drip, drop, drip, drop, drip

Beautiful child, like a faith on it' own
Restless girl, so fast you have outgrown
And in my eyes, I'm never knowing
The dreams you have without them showing

Fragile child, with wings your shaped to fly
Come into the light and learn me why
You say everything within your sigh
I make you smile when the moon is high
But a morning will dawn to say goodbye

I'm dad enough to stand well back
But sense in me where senses lack
Will hold my heart in your rock sack
As stone to blood my soul will stack

Remember a silent dad, named Jack ?

Dad x
