Use the Internet to save both time and money on travel

on board, if that's what floats your boat. Easy Cruise gives you a place to sleep and eat while hopping from one destination to the next. They specialize in cruises through the Aegean sea and the Greek islands. For more traditional style cruising the world over visit Cruise Deals (cruisedeals.com) to shop and compare prices.

When it comes to booking travel online a lot of people are skeptical, believing there is a rip-off or a scam in play. The internet, despite numerous scam artists and a major corporate presence, is the great equalizer. There are consumer advocates such as Clark Howard looking out for you in cyberspace. This syndicated radio personality and renowned cheap skate is famous for finding the deals and the scams and alerting you to them, especially when it comes to travel. His website (clarkhoward.com) is full of resources to help you plan your trip cheaply and safely.

Howard's website also has a message board. For those who have never encountered an internet message board, be warned: some of them are more moderated than others, and tempers can flare and get out of control on the less moderated boards. Clark Howard's message board is moderated and a great place to find travel tips and advice from others. Clark Howard has become so successful he now has his own show on CNN, giving financial and travel tips.

It's no longer just teenagers and students signing up for these social networking sites. Facebook is experiencing a boon in older users who are signing on to reconnect with old friends. Once you're signed up conduct a search for travel groups and you'll come across a plethora of groups of like-minded travelers to network with and gain valuable travel advice from those who have been there. The photo sharing site Flickr is a great place to browse others travel pictures (the un-retouched, non-promotional kind) of destinations you wish to visit. Just type in a destination or location you wish to visit and view thousands of pictures that will never appear in any travel brochure.

The American Automobile Association website (aaa.com) offers members discount deals and search engines for all kinds of travel. Many members of AAA aren't even aware of how useful the website can be when planning travel. If you live in the US consider signing up for AAA for all they offer besides roadside assistance, including free
