Fantasy martial arts: Bruce Lee Versus the MMA

When I think about Bruce Lee and the world of MMA (mixed-martial arts), I do not really think that there would be a conflict between the two. For those of that have paid close attention to the history of martial arts, the life of Bruce Lee, and the legacy of Bruce Lee, they will see that Bruce Lee and MMA go hand and hand with one another. Without Bruce Lee, MMA probably would not have existed.

I strongly believe that Bruce Lee would have probably promoted MMA. He probably would not have competed. However, I do strongly feel that Bruce Lee would promote it. To Bruce Lee, he would think that MMA is probably the wake up the call that the world of martial arts really needed. It was through MMA that the mysticism of traditional martial arts was shattered.

Bruce Lee would have to be the father of MMA. His style of Jeet Kune Do would have to be the first ever mixed-martial arts style.
When you carefully examine Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee combined techniques from various styles. Also, it was a very huge battle for Bruce Lee to be able to promote Jeet Kune Do. The world of MMA should pay its respects to Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee said that the ultimate style is no style. In the past, he said that the Chinese styles were superior. He had a rebellious streak towards the Japanese since they occupied Hong Kong
during World War II. Also, he had a rebellious streak towards the British.

However, he would learn the importance of constantly learning new styles and techniques. You could be the best fighter in Karate; but, it does not necessarily mean you are the best fighter in the world. This can be applied to Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, etc.

The first martial arts style that Bruce Lee had ever studied was Wing Chun. He studied it under Sifu Yip Man. Bruce Lee would study under Yip Man for about five years. Also, he would take up Boxing. He would win an interschool Boxing championship defeating an English student.

In the creation of Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee looked up various styles. The hand strikes in JKD were similar to European fencing. The punches of JKD came from Boxing. The kicks came from Tae Kwon Do and Savate. The headbutts came from Lethwei. The hardcore mindset came from Muay Thai. The grappling attacks came from Escrima and Judo. The base of the style came from Wing Chun.

Bruce Lee trained in and researched various martial arts styles. Some styles included the styles of Karate. With all that combined, JKD is the first MMA style.

The world of MMA would be an evolution of what Bruce Lee had started. There probably would not be a conflict between Bruce Lee and the MMA.
He probably would not compete.
However, Bruce Lee would praise and promote it.

Bruce Lee can be considered the pioneer of MMA. He was an innovator that believed that practitioners should stick to one style.
MMA is the personification of Bruce Lee's philosophy.
