What love is? This is truly a hard one to pinpoint. I see that the current number one article has chosen to void emotion in true love. I see where he is going with this but if we didn't have our emotions then love would be impossible.
The human emotional system is the most complex and sensitive system in the animal kingdom. In fact it IS what makes us human. Our emotional system is an amazing tool for survival when used properly.
When used properly it connects us to not only everyone around us but our environment. We don't think empathy for someone suffering, we feel it. That's what makes us who listen very closely to our emotions, change to make things better for everyone.
Our emotions ARE the connection to God not our mind. Our mind asks questions and our emotions or heart as we put it is where faith answers the unknown. We have faith in "God/s" because we feel like there is more than what our five senses are telling us. We know there must be something we can not see, hear, smell or touch because we feel it deeply. We get chills of joy when we feel closer to it. It helps us maintain a steady mind. It helps us make clear decisive decisions. Remember, I did say when used properly.
Like I said the emotional system is extremely complex and most of us never truly understand our emotions completely. This is why we must use discretion when communicating with our emotions. We can't always assume that our emotions are giving us the best information on how to deal with a situation but at the same time I do believe that our emotions will usually tell us when we are lying to ourselves if we listen closely.
So in conclusion it is the balance of both mind and emotion that helps us to identify and cherish true love. Like everything else in nature, harmony creates the best of health.
We fall in love because our emotions flood the mind with euphoric feelings that seem to LIFT us into the heavens. When we descend back to Earth our minds remind us of who brought us there. And we reward that person or people with loyalty and dedication so they too will be reminded through gratitude of how beautiful this life can be when togetherness is the highest priority.
True love is making the best decisions for the whole. When the euphoria of falling in love passes we start something much deeper and just like faith in the havens you sometimes need faith in the end result of something much more fulfilling than a one night stand that usually is just an indicator to an insecure mind that he/she is still attractive.
In my mind there is no contest at all. Sure I look at every beautiful woman that passes by but there is not even a moment that I think my life would be better if I let my ego (which is mind) convince me that I need to be accepted by a particular group.
