If I woke up tomorrow morning and discovered that Big Pharma had discovered a cure for homosexuality, I'd really want to know why all that money was wasted. I'd also wonder if they were working on a cure for being white or brown-eyed or Jewish. If there was a cure for homosexuality announced tomorrow, I'd buy a gun, because that would foretell the breakdown of what is left of civilization.
Homosexuality Needs No Cure
How many heterosexuals have had gays or lesbians break into our homes and be homosexual in front of us (whatever that means?) How many gays and lesbians lobby for legislation to end heterosexual marriage? How many gays and lesbians get in your face and try to force you to be homosexual?
Homosexuals are no threat. They are not planning world domination. They don't even care what you do in the privacy of your own home. Homosexuals are no different from heterosexuals, except they are not attracted to the opposite gender. This is no threat to anyone. So don't act like it is.
Pheromone Study
There are many studies that suggest that homosexuality is not a lifestyle choice. It is something you are born with, just like the color of your skin or the color of your eyes. This is being proven with clinical studies of human brains and pheromones. Pheromones are chemicals we put out to subliminally influence other members of our own species. We can't smell them consciously, but out unconscious (and our Jacobsen's organ) picks them right up. We put out pheromones to attract a mate, for example.
In a 2005 study of how gay men's brains responded to male pheromones, their brains reacted in the same way a female's would. They detected the male pheromones and were aroused. This was based on a series of Swedish studies performed years earlier and with the same conclusions. A similar study done with lesbians in 2007 strongly hint that no one influences our sexual orientation because we are born with it. (Please see Resources for links to the studies' abstracts.)
Call It Evolution in Action
Homosexuality exists in animals, which certainly can't be accused of acting unnaturally. Homosexuals have been a part and parcel of human history from cultures like ancient Greece to pre-Columbian Native American tribes. Perhaps in the earliest days of our species, when resources were scare, not everyone could have offspring that would survive. Perhaps homosexuality arose to help keep humanity from breeding itself to death.
With only a few children in a family, the whole extended family, tribe or community could participate in not only taking care of the kids, but helping to take care of the elders, the disabled and the misfits. Gays and lesbians are not only part of society, they greatly contribute to that society. If we were to "cure" gays, we may as well cure people with different skin color, hair texture or other feature they were born with.
