Poetry: Precious memories

Days gone by

For those with whom we once shared
Lived, loved, laughed and cared
Argued, annoyed, fought and teased
Considered, protected, defended, pleased

Whatever reasons made you leave
Causing us, here on earth to grieve
You helped shape the lives we lead
now pages lie vacant with no lines to read

A rose of beauty with no scent
A soul on earth temporarily lent
A new day dawning with no sun
New life gone before it begun

Lost in space a lonely star
How I wonder where you are?
A song sung to hollow ears
The silent sound of fallen tears

A gust of wind a faint breeze
A water ripple on the seas
A presence felt in the heart
Where you'll always be a part

A quiet moment of thought
A reflective memory caught
Time can heal but never replace
The role you had in a past place
