What your favorite movies say about you

I find that in my modern day hectic life television watching has lost it's foothold in my life. My children are gone and out of the house and I live alone which, instead of making me lonely, has increased my activities. I work full time, handle two direct marketing companies, and write. I have to slip some time in there for getting my hair, nails and cleaning done; forget cleaning the house, I get that done as well.

But I do enjoy movies. Not just going to a movie theatre and watching movies, but the wonderful theatrical productions that you can rent and bring home. I allocate a time to watch the lucky movie I bring home, set whatever chaos is going on aside and focus on the movie.

I moved back into a rental property I own and knowing it was a temporary stop I didn't have my television hooked up. I began to rent movies, more movies that I normally would. One day I went to the local Blockbuster, selected my movie and went to check out. The dynamic little whirlwind that waited on me offered me Blockbusters super, summer deal. She completely laid out the benefits of having that plan and promoted it well because I purchased the plan for a flat rate of about $20.00 or something around that price. The deal worked like this: Rent as many movies for 30 days as a person wants, but you can only rent one at a time. You could rent one, take it home and watch it, return it the same day and get another and so on, so on. For thirty days! You could watch quite a few movies if you were so inclined.

I didn't do quite that much movie watching but they kept track of the types of movies I was renting so it wasn't long before they were suggesting movies I might like. Out of curiosity I also kept a list of movies that I enjoyed and I soon noticed the pattern.

I am partially a Romantic (and a sucker for a good love story) mixed in with a dash of mystery. I don't care for blood, guts or being despicable. On the other hand, I favor the underdog especially if its a losing sports team or someone who's coming up from being down, that's who I'm rooting for. I want to see losers win and "bad" guys lose. I want women to come out strong and stand up for themselves. And I love surprise happy endings.

Analyzing this I can see my life reflected in my movie selections. I am strong, confident, not afraid to stand firm in my beliefs. I'm fair with my employees, fair with fellow workers and delight in having my own romantic social life. I try to be kind to my neighbors and give a helping hand when needed. I make an effort to say "yes" and "no" equally for my own personal balance. I attempt to not be nave about the "hard" side of life, endeavor to be cautious, but I feel there is enough hate and ugliness in the world that I certainly don't need to add to it. So, in summation, I lean a little to the soft, feminine side, I tolerate a lot, but if push comes to shove, you will see me strive to stand my ground, keeping my perspective about fairness in a world that isn't always fair
