Turkey alternatives for Thanksgiving

types of duck that you can choose from, with some being lighter than others. Peking duck for example is said to be lighter meat than Moulard or Muscovy duck, so never assume all duck will taste the same from every place you get it from.

If you are looking for a vegetarian option then there are usually two popular choices that most tend to go for, those being either a nut roast or a meat alternative joint. Having tried both, although not being a vegetarian myself I can tell you that in my opinion the meat alternatives tend to taste better than the nut roast, although they are more expensive also. The meat alternatives are available in a variety of flavors, as well as ingredients that can include soy, textured vegetable protein, tofu, Tempeh and Seitan.

If you really want to go that extra mile and get something really unusual, then there are plenty of other more exotic meats that can easily be ordered for your thanksgiving meal. There are several specialist online companies that will deliver to your door meats ranging from alligator to buffalo and many others in between. Of course these don't tend to be cheap, and cooking them will usually require a little more research than most dishes. But on the other hand they do certainly make a memorable thanksgiving that your family will remember for a long time.

Lastly venison is another choice that has been gaining popularity as a thanksgiving meal choice in the last few years. Deer meat is not only cheap and fairly easy to cook, but if cooked properly can be delicious as well. Many people also tend to think that deer meat is healthier for us than farmed meats such as beef or turkey, due to the fact that deer are wild and so aren't affected as much by pesticides or contaminations during the preparation process.
