Turkey alternatives for Thanksgiving

If you are one of those people who isn't fond of turkey or would rather feast on something else, why not? I'm sure that the turkey would be greatful if you didn't.

Then again, giving thanks for a bountiful harvest usually includes those foods that you did harvest. That is, if you are a farmer and you must grow enough food to survive another year. Well, we city people also celebrate your good fortune by feasting on all of those things that you did provide for us to eat.

As for me, I'd rather have a roasted chicken or a baked ham as my main meat entry. Yes, and who doesn't like candied sweet potatoes, peas, corn on the cob with plenty of better, apple pie, pumpkin pie, baked or mashes potatoes, carrots, herb or another kind of stuffing? Come to think of it, I'd also like to roast a few pounds of beef bottom round and make some gravey to put on it and my baked potato. Yum, yum!

A few slices of hot garlic toast would be nice to, and I also like Italian bread with a whole lot of butter on it. Gee, I can't wait to gorge myself, even if I have to cook most of the day to do it. Yes, that's one day when I'll be up and about before sunrise so that I can slow roast that beef roast just the way I like it. Yes, I might ever deep fry some cut potatoes and breaded cheese hunks. Then again, I really would like a stuffed and roasted chicken if I can't afford to pay for that bottom round roast.

You better believe that green beans and baked beans will also have a place on my table. A nice bottle of wine would be nice too, not to mention some of those other truly delicious holiday drinks that I also enjoy. I know a whole of people who would go hog wild for the Thanksgiving feast that I'm going to make. Then again, the pig that I might cook will be cooked and served one or more ways at my celebration. I just love a tender and juicy pork loin roast with a whole lot of home made gravy as well.

Let us not forget about the sour cream, celery, cranberry sauce, radishes, pickles, pumpkin and apple pie, ice cream and those yummy beets, pickled or right from the garden. Yes and you better believe that I'll have a few home made salads to compliment all of the other things that I put on my table that day.

Gee, with all of those yummy options available it's going to be really difficult to decide exactly just what I'll make, but one thing for sure. I'll have plenty left over for severl fine meals to come. Yum! Yum! What will you make for your Thanksgiving Day celebration?

Me, well I still didn't make up my mind but I better head out to the supermarket to see what those farmers have for me and a whole lot of other people who have no idea of what it takes to raise of grow food. Yep, when staying healthy and alive truly depends on how much food you can provide for yourself, it's no wonder to me why those lucky ones of our past did celebrate their success. Their contiuned survival, like mine these days, depended on that.
