Whenever I hear someone say World of Warcraft is not a waste of time, I often wonder, have these people ever done anything productive with any of their free time? This game, and I know this from experience, is a complete time sink. By its very nature, its designed this way. This is the very reason Blizzard has had to add more levels for characters to advance, and now, with the latest expansion, only level 55 characters can activate the new character class. This basically means that part time players, who are not willing to grind their lives away, will not have access to the features they have paid for with the new expansion, for quite some time. It is worth asking, what is an OK amount of time to play a computer game?
If your under 18, that's for the parents to decide. If your older, and I was when I first started playing this game, well then that's really a personal issue. But from my experience, when I realised I had done nothing else every night for one month, I knew that there was something wrong. Others take issue with this. I have heard people say that it's harmless, and fun. I think these people, either haven't been sucked in by the game, or work for Blizzard. One of my best friends has been addicted to this game for 3 years. At his worst, he was working a full day, then playing another 8 hours untill he fell asleep. Most of the people in the guild did the same. and most of the top players in ALL the guilds, play this game that much. It's a fact. and to say differently, is to not know what you talking about. You can't be at the top of your guild, or lead a guild, without this much involvment. The major guilds are worse. They need the best gear, from the best Instances and so litterally, WORK long hours to achieve this.
Let's make one more thing clear. Freetime, does not equal money, as some people will have you believe. Basically saying, if you're giving out about what you're doing with your free time, well then you just want to make more money. This, is just wrong. How about education. Free education at that. Teach yourself a new language? what about a musical instrument? With the unbelievable human waste that goes into this game, people could have written books, climbed mountains, aced college exams. Hell, maybe even sorted out the world a little bit. But no. They got the new uber ultra rare purple tagged armour for their virtual selves, instead of truely living their lives.
I'm going to be honest, because I'm not a hypocrite. Have I done all these things
