A Close Call
Have you ever done something that went against your better judgment? Did this poor decision cause you to become injured or to experience extreme stress? If you are an average person as most, you were able to respond Yes' to one of the previous questions. On a hot, humid summer day, I encountered a situation that caused me to give that very answer to the questions above. A situation that would have been easier to stay out of, rather then to remain in and accept the consequences it enacted.
School was out and summer had hit its peak; parties, clubbing, and work were the frequent activities. In addition to this, my closets friends and I frequented the Spoilhole. Located in the Podunk of Beulah, the Spoilhole was a large lake where teenagers could swim and chill without the supervision of adults. Turn after turn we all flaunted our stunts, not having a worry in mind. Look back on the day, performing more difficult stunts as the day grew old, along with out poor judgmental choices my crew made, were very irresponsible choices that could have caused a more horrific scene than what ended up occurring in the lake.
"Y'all watch this gainer!" Spewed from my rather large mouth as I clumsily scaled a humungous oak tree to grab hold of the hemp rope.
Pushing away from the sturdy limb, the only thing separating me from the shadowy water, caused adrenaline to pump throughout the extremities of my body. Maybe it was because I had never successfully landed a gainer, or was it because the jump felt completely wrong? Regardless of what it was, adrenaline was rushing due to fear, the opposite of the usual emotion in this situation; excitement. Becoming air
