The Golden retriever is a splendid breed of dog known for its gentle temperament and serene nature. This tremendous breed of dog has a great appearance and a great temperament. The golden retriever is a medium sized dog which has some great characteristics that make it really unique.
The Golden Retriever breed was originally developed in Scotland
and England. For many years, there was disagreement over which breeds were originally bred. The original cross was of a yellow-colored Retriever, Nous, with a Tweed Water Spaniel female dog, Belle.
The Golden Retriever is a dog with a variety of colors for the coats. The coat is opaque and water repellent, in diverse shades of shimmering gold, with reasonable feathering. The gait should be free, smooth, powerful, and well-coordinated. Golden retrievers do not have spots or are not found in any color that isn't a shade of gold. Red is not accepted in a golden retriever and neither is white. The coat is dense and waterproof, and may be straight or fairly curly. It usually lies even against the belly.
The temperament of the Golden Retriever is a hallmark of the breed and is usually described as kind, pleasant and confident. The typical Golden Retriever is serene, naturally intelligent and obedient, with a brilliant eagerness to please its master. Golden retrievers are really friendly to strangers and for that reason they make very poor guard dogs.
Golden retrievers are also renowned for their intelligence, and can learn up to approximately 240 commands, words and phrases. Golden retrievers are also well known for their patience with children of all ages.
Golden retrievers love to retrieve objects whether the object is a rock, ball, or a disc, retrieving can keep a dog of this breed engaged and entertained for many hours, particularly if water is also involved in this avtivity. Golden retrievers have soft mouths so that they can retrieve objects undamaged. A Golden retriever is so gentle that it can hold an egg in its mouth unharmed.
Golden Retrievers are rather active dogs, and need a reasonable quantity of exercise each day, although exercise needs may differ depending on the individual dog and its age. They are a breed that is prone to obesity in other words fatness, and as such the standard Golden Retriever should not be treated like a small dog, or inactive house pet.
The median life span for Golden Retrievers is around 10 to 12 years. They do quite well in small living areas. While the breed is recognized for its strength, many retrievers are prone to specific diseases. A responsible breeder will proactively decrease the risk of disease by having the health of dogs in breeding pairs efficiently examined and selected on the basis of corresponding qualities.
Overall, the golden retriever makes for a great pet for many people. It is a great breed of dog with a great temperament and a great appearance. The golden retriever is popular in the world today and is known for its gentleness with children. The golden retriever truly is a fabulous breed of dog.
