"Rock-hard steel
And shining glass
Will never kneel
To nature's grasp."
"Nor will they break
When hurricane
And earthquake fierce
Send forth their bane."
In spite, not many
Thought of it
When hell began:
The first plane hit
8:46
Rock-hard steel
Plummets hard
And glass like snow
Leaves none unscarred
"I cannot see!"
"I cannot breathe!"
They all cry out
And New York bleeds.
What monster could have?
Who thought of this?
The people weep
The second hits
9:03
When rock-hard steel
And windowpanes
Meet flesh and bone
Then anguish reigns
Cellphones bleep
As people call
Loved ones, 911
The injured crawl
September 11th
2001
Or better to shun
It funny how we think of it
9/11
That's the number most called
But nobody answered
"911?"
"-"
"HELP ME!"
"-"
So many stakes
Are put in trust
Of glass that breaks
And steel that rusts.
