Just a thought about the relationship between God and Country, the separation of Church and State, and the roll that Christians play in the political practices of this country. I am reminded that God is neither Democrat nor Republican, nor is He Conservative or Liberal. Note that what I did not say is that with God all things are right and nothing is wrong. For there is most definitely the existence of right and wrong, this is proven by the fact that you will not find any country where it is okay to steal from your neighbor.
Unless of course such stealing is not done by literally walking over to your neighbor's house, opening their door and taking what you want, but instead by you electing other people in to office who will steal it from your neighbor. Those elected in to office will call it a tax, and welfare system, allowing you to have your neighbor's money, but neither your neighbor nor you will think of you as a thief.
Now, getting back to my main point, stealing is still stealing and no one on earth looks upon stealing as virtuous. It is only when we as a people allow definitions to change, and we make it a matter of one's duty to the State that stealing changes from wrong to a right.
Now if you label yourself as conservative you may be upset, and if you are liberal you may be a little upset as well. For the liberal it all depends on if you believe I have just called you a thief or not. Which opens up for discussion this, if you are a Christian your duty is to give to the government those things that belong to the government, and God the things that belong to Him. Which means that no matter what tax code the government has us follow, we are not to answer back that God only wants 10% of my money, why should the government need more than that (or any where near it for that matter).
So often times when it comes to the issues such as taxes and money we look to the government and become angry and cry out for a change. No matter which party we associate ourselves with, we Christians, are committing a serious sin when we become angry with any government that has power over us, simply on the basis that we do not like their policies. In Daniel 2:21 we read that it is God that rises up kings and kingdoms. And, in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 we are told to pray for everyone including kings and those in authority over us.
During this crucial time in America's history, it is vital that we as Christians realize that no matter what political movement we identify ourselves with we should
