Parenthood is not for the week. Party at my crib at 3 A.M., silent night yeah right and hello my name is mine are just some of the many cliches that have been written on shirts to exhibit just a small taste of some of the things that all parents get to experience once they take that little bundle of joy home. While it is true that you won't ever see the good things about being a parent being written on shirts because face it who would buy them there is little to no humor in that. If they were to sell shirts with the upside of parenting, however, they might read you complete our family, I can't imagine my life without you in it or even you are one of the best things to ever happen to this family. The truth is that just like anything with the miracle of life comes both the good and the bad. This is something you need to take into consideration when making the decision to become a parent. The waking up several times in the middle of the night, constant diapering, constant spitting up, and crying all comes with the cute, huggable baby that you envision in your dreams.
Becoming a parent is one of the most defining moments in your life. The hospital bracelet that they put on both the mother and the father at the hospital signifies the lifelong comittment that you make to your child. It is as permanent as the ink that is written on the bracelet that reads baby boy or baby girl followed by your last name. All three bracelets have the same name and ID number signifying that for the first time in your life that someone is looking up to you for their every need. Everything that you do or say to them at this point is going to help shape them into the woman or man that they will ultimately become; this is no doubt the biggest responsibility that you will ever have in your life. There is no time clock that you punch in and out of that enables you to take that much needed break that you will no doubt need. From that moment, you will always be mom or dad.
If you are truelly ready to be known as mom or dad, then the negative stuff that comes with the good won't scare you away at all. It's just like a relationship with your wife or husband in that if you are truelly in love with the idea of becoming a parent then that love makes everything worth it in the end. If after you have thought about and even talked to your partner in crime at length about what becoming a parent would mean to both of you and it still sounds like the path that you both want to take, then chances are you
