Poetry: Suicidal thoughts

by Brandy West

Created on: November 24, 2008

I shake and quiver to think of a time when light lead my way

Darkness now envelopes all I hold dear

I am like an empty vase waiting to be filled

For happiness doesn't live here any longer

My lungs are suitable for collapse

Rarely does a full breath enter

If I get enough courage maybe I could end this still

Cut up not across let the crimson run dry

Fall to the barren floor

Watch the world as my own ends

To live would only be tragic

And tragedy rarely ends well

Somewhere clouds of gray cover the sky

And rain from the heavens does cry

My imagination never fails me

Doubtful or not I survive

If my heart wills it to be

My life will not end here

I will learn from this that there must be more

More than self loathing and exile

More than train wrecks of the mind

And earthquakes of the heart

I take this in

What happens next will be fierce

The pain shall not end here

A time like this shall be taken

As a burden of choice and reason

Will I fail or falter?

God only knows
