Many would agree that your faith is the substance of your existence and why should your beliefs not be relevant in every aspect of your life? Especially when considering who is going to be your choice for the President of the United States. Many forget that our great nation was founded on religious principles; the 13 colonies were a representation of the 13 different practicing religions at the time. Our Fore-Fathers put God in the forefront of everything that was done and were influenced by the teachings of the Bible from the very beginning of the formation of the "New World". Although, each may have had different practices the general consciences was the same; we need God in our lives and He should guide this nation.
Over the recent years, the Lord has been removed from everything and the conditions of those various factions have gone from good to bad very rapidly. Prayer was removed from educational institutions with alarming results. Over the last ten years, metal detectors and police officers have replaced books and educators across the entire nation. Instead of having Christmas programs, parents attend holiday festivals plagued with commercialism and greed losing the true reason why we celebrate Christmas-the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a result, more and more families are broken during this time of the year, parents' scammer around looking for expensive toys and gifts to give to their family and friends instead of focusing on the true meaning of the season-these are just a few of the things to come to mind and are candid reflections of how important our belief in God should play in our decision making.
In the beginning of the election, I was conflicted. I was not sure who I was going to vote for but as the electoral debates and other speaking engagements began to occur; I decided to conduct some more research on each candidate but most importantly I called on my Father in heaven and asked that He guide my decision. I want to vote for the person that would uphold a Christian belief system and not cave into societal accepted "norms". Being a Christian is not popular nor is it easy and God never promised that it would be. In fact, we (Christians) have been ridiculed and persecuted for our beliefs and will continue to be considered unpopular by society's standards but I cannot let the world's conformities to take over my life and remove my alignment with my Christian beliefs. In essence, I must say, of course, your faith should guide your voting decisions. Let God's will be done for it will be so regardless.
