Humor: Signs that your young child is obsessed with dinosaurs

I was just wondering if I was the only parent of a child that is obsessed with dinosaurs. Here are some things he does to let me know he is obsessed with dinosaurs.

1. He will only eat oatmeal if it has dinosaur eggs in it.

2. He refuses to eat a hards boiled egg because he will be eating a baby dinosaur.

3. he walks around like a dinosaur does and makes the sounds.

4. He has every dinosaur toy that is out there. Our home is called the Land before Time.

5. He is 4 and can name more dinosaurs then I can. Some of them I have never even heard of but apparently they are real.

6. He has a "pet dinosaur" no one can see his dinosaur but him.

7. when we take our dogs for a walk he has to have a leash to walk his dinosaur.

8. Even worse we have to have a special bowl for his "pet dino" to eat out of and drink water out of.

9.I am starting to think that that's all my son can draw is a dinosaur. I mean he can write his name and draw other stuff but it always comes back to the dinosaurs.

10. he has all the pj's with dinos on them. I hate to tell him he will grow out of them.

11. He sleeps with a dino stuffed animal that would probably be scary to some 4 year olds but doesn't bother my son in the least.

12. The songs he sings are about what else dinosaurs.

13. My son went as far as to ask me if we could name his brother after the dinosaur in the movie the Flintstones. I have forgotten the name of the dino but if my son was awake he could probably tell me.

I used to think that this obsession was unhealthy for my son. I went to the doctor and talked it over with him hoping it wouldn't get worse. Now I know that my son is smart and normal.IHe will grow up and realize the real world around him. Until then I am going to soak up every moment of the dino phase and every memory He is showing me what an imagination he has and how he sees his world. I know that one day he won't even remember this. It will be a part of his past. All the dinos will move on to someone else and there will be something else he is going to be obsessed over. am not going to rush forward to that time because I know he will only be this small once and he will not always have the imagination that he does now. And I am learning on the way. I never knew I could learn so much about a dinosaur then I do now and I am grown up. so let their imagination go and let them obsess over whatever their heart desires.
