What is a cardio workout?

The importance of the heart to the human body is obvious; you can not live without it. While your heart does have an expiry date, we as humans do in fact have the power to alter that expiry date if we want to deem ourselves the chance at a long, vigorous and healthy lifetime. Hey, our heart does its bit to keep us alive; we should pay it back by making its job easier with a bit of good health, right? Giving your heart the strength it needs to carry out a healthy lifetime is accomplished by a regular "cardio workout" routine. This pretty much means working out, getting sweaty and out of breath and forcing your heart to beat faster in order to pump the necessary blood around your body fast enough Sounds cruel, right? However, your heart loves a good workout just as much as "The Iron Brit" Ian Harrison loves protein shakes!

With the basics out of the way, let's get down to business. A Cardio Workout as described above means putting your heart to the test and pushing it to its limits. We have all came to the point in our routines where we have ran so much that we feel like we can not go on any longer and have to stop for a rest, well that is where we go during a Cardio Workout. That specific point will be called "the limit break" from here on.

The general point of a cardio workout is to increase your stamina, which means you will be able to go for longer periods of time. In general, the longer you can go, the healthier your heart actually is. The way we increase our overall stamina is by pushing ourselves to the limit break and going that extra little bit before taking a rest, fueling up with water and going to the limit break yet again. Your heart will eventually realize where you are going with this and basically gets stronger, therefore increasing its limit break point, which in turn allows you to go longer to reach the limit break yet again, and so on.

It sounds simple, right? No doubt after reading that last part you were expecting some evil clich that would tell you that it is in-fact difficult, but no, it really is that simple. You just push yourself to your limit over and over again in order to increase your stamina which in turn increases the health of your heart. Of course, this is not the only benefit of a cardio workout. You will of course have the interior health benefits such as massive stamina gains and a healthy bloodstream, but you will also have the exterior health benefits to show that you are a healthy person. This is anything from sleek toned abs, a slim figure and healthy hair Yes, folks, this is the way to do it consider it a gift from your loving heart for keeping it so strong and healthy!

That really is all there is to it; ignore all the technicalities as they will tell you the exact same thing I have only with a million scientific words and who wants that? Skip the fancy stuff and get right down to business! So now you have heard about the advantages and results of a cardio workout, so just what entails said workout and how can you be apart of it?

Here are some common and popular aerobic cardiovascular workouts:

Running

Jogging

Power Walking

Cycling

Roller Blading

Swimming

All of the above workouts have their own unique benefits with the same result a strong, healthy heart! Which will you choose to bring your good health and vitality to the surface in the year 2009?
