There are many people that have a fear of the Pitt bull! When these people see a Pitt bull they will do anything in their power to avoid them. Why do so many people have a fear of this breed?

The Pitt bull has a reputation of being an "evil" breed. Many people blame the breed for its reputation. Is this really a breed that should be feared?

We all know that dogs are man's best friend and the Pitt bull is no different than any other breed out there. Pitt bulls are feared by people because of PEOPLE. That's right the truth is this breed is not bad. Many people who own this magnificent breed are the cause of this status that has the Pitt bulls misunderstood.

Where exactly does this misunderstanding start?

It all begins with the breeders. There are breeders out there that really have a love for the breed. These breeders make every attempt to improve the breed and their standards. When you buy a puppy from a reputable breeder that breeds for quality instead of quantity, you will receive a puppy that has a very stable temperament. These puppies make great additions to the family and are sweet natured loving dogs.

What happens when you don't buy from a reputable breeder?

Let's face it there have been many times when you see puppies for sale in parking lots, newspapers, and on the internet. These puppies may be adorable and much cheaper than buying from a good breeder. The problem here is you know nothing about these puppies or their pedigree.

Many of these backyard breeders are in it for the money. They often over breed their dogs and pay no attention to what dogs will make better quality puppies. These breeders will breed any dog just to make money. Many of these puppies are lacking the key ingredient to a GOOD Pitt bull, a stable temperament. A lot of these puppies can be very unstable and unstable dogs give breeds a bad name.

There is another problem this breed faces. Many people purchase this breed based off of its strong fighting roots. Pitt bulls do not want to go out and fight other dogs for no reason. The owners of many Pitt bulls train them to participate in illegal dog fights. The Pitt bull has a strong desire to please their owners. If their handler wants them to fight, they will even if they don't want to. The reason they still fight against their better judgment is to please their humans.

A lot of Pitt bull owners neglect their dogs. Some leave them chained outdoors for days at a time with an inadequate supply of food and water. Many people fail to realize that
