balance sheet requirements.
When these industries don't have to report to the average American citizen, They Won't, which can lead to, corrupt and criminal activity, in the name of unregulated greed.
Regulation is a form of transparency. If they have to meet guidelines, then they will have to disclose information, which keeps; "us the people", in the know. Anybody in a legitimate business should have no fear of meeting professional and reasonable guidelines.
Regulating, and stabilizing our chief industries might restore stable and livable condition for the business community as well as the workers community. Restoring regulation will make information more visible to the public citizen, who is interested in the regulation and the compliance process.
The country elected Barrack Obama outside the usual grasp of Washington lobbyists. Barrack Obama, as a constitutional law professor is exactly what we need to perform a much needed "check", on big business dominated interests. And balance out the power that the government has over business, and weigh these; "lobbied for", lucrative business arrangements that has dominated the political landscape for the lifespan of a worker, in the scales of truth.
There is nothing inherently wrong with making a profit, but if you have to lobby and relax the rules in order to defeat every competitor, you may win the initial battle, but many losers will be created in the wake, is that good for this country? If you gain the market share, but your employees can't afford the very product they make, is that good for the American citizen? The standard of living achieved in the wake of post WWII prosperity, has been systematically rolled back, and the government helped propagate this, by not protecting the American citizen, who needs protection from: lobbied, greedy, big business concerns. Reintroduced regulation will be a window, to view the inner workings of both government, and business.
The Constitution is clear about the rights and freedoms of its citizens. Businesses and the government itself must operate without superseding these fundamental rights of justice, equality, and domestic tranquility. The proof points out however, that these are more than just noble words; but they carry detrimental ramifications when they are not taken seriously. Deregulation provides a vale for the businessman to hide questionable activities; it doesn't favor the greater masses, and violates the spirit of the constitution, (protecting vulnerable citizens first). Re-regulating banking, and perhaps some on the other failed experiments in deregulation, might serve the country as a whole better, opening up the inner works, of a large and evolving industrial nation, that has repeatedly proven to value profit, over people's rights.
