Patron purists, please remain calm and act normal. The rest of you listen up; you do not have to gulp down a shot that is either dressed or neat. There is a third choice, so simple, so elegant, that it has escaped the attention of the general public.
I revealed this secret to a Honduran diplomat, and he threatened to stab me. I suggested a tumbler of this liquid joy to an Israeli exchange student and she threw her apple martini in my face. This is a hard sell, because many Patron drinkers are set in their ways and the rest of you don't like tequila at all.
But that's only because you haven't tried Patron Silver on the rocks. I hear you, "That's barely a recipe!" Fair enough. I sincerely beg your forgiveness. The thing is, it is so good. It releases the unexpected undertones so favorably that I had to tell you.
Nobody enjoys a shot of Patron more than I. I like mine neat but when I want a change, ice brings out the sweetness of the blue agave somehow and gives you a smooth, rich and refreshing after dinner drink that I know will surprise you.
Patron on the rocks. That's my drink recipe. I hope you'll enjoy it too.
By the way, the diplomat and the exchange student both tried it; I'm going to be the best man at their wedding.
