How does God work?

To believe in God is to believe in something bigger than ourselves. It is a belief that gives us hope, courage, knowing we are loved, a friend, and guidance. It is said that God does not give us more than we can handle, but He will test our limits. How does God work, though? I cannot truly answer this by giving my opinion. I can give times in my life where I have seen God step in and offer a hand, even if I did not know it at the time.

It took me a really long time to believe in God. I did not go to church. I had influences telling me We are told that such and such is real and that was a lie; so how do we know God is real?' It made me wonder: I had been brought up to believe in all of these characters, only to find out later that they were fictional. Part of me wanted to believe, but how could I? I went for years with this debate of whether He existed or not. Finally, I asked God to show himself or Jesus to me. I could not bring myself to believe without proof. He did.

The first time was subtle and He did not show himself visibly, but He did show me he was there. It was town wide garage sales in April. The weather was rather nasty. Cold, bitter, rainy, and snowing. I asked, Lord, if you really do exist, could you please hold off on the rain until the garage sales are over. We are sitting outside and I would really appreciate it. Thanks.' And he did. As we were setting up, the rain stopped and for the next several hours, it did not rain. After the garage sales were over and we were on our way home, I silently told Him, God. Thank you for giving us a good day. I did not see a drop of rain. You can let go now. Thanks.' And He did just that second; and it rained hard.

The second time He revealed Himself to me was a little more visual. I was lying down for the night and I remember praying. A few months earlier, my uncle had past away and I was worried about him going to heaven. I was still having trouble believing in God, but I did believe we go to heaven. I continually asked God to let my uncle into heaven. I knew that he had done things in his life that were not to God's standards, but he was a strong believer. I thought he deserved to go to heaven; fore we all have our faults. I did not see his as anything major. That night, before I fell asleep I saw my uncle enter heaven. It was beautiful. I do not remember seeing either person clearly, but I knew who they were. I watched my uncle enter through a bright round light, followed by Jesus. From that moment on, I knew that I could not deny the Lord's existence.

This was the first miracle I had seen in this fashion, but it was not the last. It was my birthday and like young adults we were, my husband and I celebrated in bed. Before my husband came to bed though is when I saw the miracle. I was half starring off into nothing, and I saw an angel holding a baby. I knew that this was to be my baby and that night I would conceive. Nine months later came my baby girl. I had a high risk pregnancy and difficulty delivering, but she had an angel holding her for me and I knew that she was safe.

I believe that God is willing to step in and help us believe if we are willing to. He works in mysterious ways. He knew that because I had someone feeding me what if's and how can it be's then I would need something more to believe. I still do not know how He works, but I know He is there.
