Poetry: What I see

by Linda Hinkley

THANKSGIVING

I see the sunshine and goodness

In the bashful smile of a little girl

I see the cold, cold wind

In the hateful words of an unforgiven world

When there's no place to hide from the wind and cold

Because you have no money and your'e growing old

Don't ignore me and let me stay

Without any food

Please not today

I see you have a heart and wings

To carry me to a table

Fit for kings

For Thanksgiving

Let me give thanks

For a warm supper

And a glass of drink

I'll be forever grateful to you

And I'll bless this food and

Bless you too!
