Whether your iPod just broke or you are considering buying an iPod for the first time, it is important to consider your options before dealing out up to $300 for a high-tech piece of equipment. Here are three main categories to consider when looking at iPods:

If you are looking for an iPod to use when working out just to hold some of your favorite music, the Shuffle or Nano iPods are the way to go. So you have now chosen your iPod, and excitement begins to creep up your spine as you realize you really are going to treat yourself to a new iPod. And then your worst fears come true: you notice the price. "Really? iPods have been on the market since 2001 and they still haven't gotten cheaper? What's up with that?" Your mood suddenly begins to turn towards despair, but wait!

In buying a "refurbished" iPod you can save yourself from 30% to 50% off a like-new iPod. Go to Apple.com, click on Store, scroll down, and click on Refurbished iPod. I personally have purchased numerous iPods using this method, and seriously the only difference is the box the iPod comes in.
