Whether your iPod just broke or you are considering buying an iPod for the first time, it is important to consider your options before dealing out up to $300 for a high-tech piece of equipment. Here are three main categories to consider when looking at iPods:
Portability & Exercise
If you are looking for an iPod to use when working out just to hold some of your favorite music, the Shuffle or Nano iPods are the way to go. Although the Shuffle does not have a screen, it is the smallest and most portable of the family of iPods. If you are looking to use your iPod for exercise, the shuffle is especially handy with its build-in clip.
General Awesomeness
Do you feel a pang of jealousy every time that guy at work pulls out his iPhone? No longer do you have to regret your 2-year contract with Verizon and the outlandish price of the iPhone. The iPod Touch is just like the iPhone in every way except for the phone capabilities. Now you too can be cool, surfing the web during boring meetings or classes.
Epic Song Collector
You have spent the last six months loading your entire CD collection onto iTunes, which now informs you that you can play your music for 32.7 days without ceasing. The iPod Classic is the iPod that will hold all of your music (and movies and games) with plenty of space to spare. If you are looking for a good, durable, high performing iPod, the iPod Classic is the one for you.
So you have now chosen your iPod, and excitement begins to creep up your spine as you realize you really are going to treat yourself to a new iPod. And then your worst fears come true: you notice the price. "Really? iPods have been on the market since 2001 and they still haven't gotten cheaper? What's up with that?" Your mood suddenly begins to turn towards despair, but wait!
Before either giving up on your newest purchase or forking over $200 for your new iPod, there is an alternate route to take: and it comes right from Apple.com! In buying a "refurbished" iPod you can save yourself from 30% to 50% off a like-new iPod. Go to Apple.com, click on Store, scroll down, and click on Refurbished iPod. I personally have purchased numerous iPods using this method, and seriously the only difference is the box the iPod comes in.
An entire world of music is out there, waiting to become a part of your everyday life. So now get out there and find that iPod that you have been waiting to treat yourself to!
