Poetry: Why I love you

by Katie Weller

Created on: November 22, 2008

I love you because you loved me first

Even when I was at my worst.

When I was sick, when I was well.

When I was standing, and when I fell.

When I refused to love you back,

When I was falling right off track.

And then you came along to me

And in one day showed the world to me

Took my blue eyes, and gave them life.

Took my broken heart, and made it right.

Took my hater, anger, pain and hurt.

And made it different, made it convert.

When I thought I was in the pit of despair,

you pulled me out and showed me new air.

You took the blindfold from my eyes,

and brought my joy, and took my disguise.

You took my mask, and took my pain.

And had absolutely nothing to gain.

And how can I thank you for giving me this?

From pain to joy, from hurt to bliss.

And now you're gone, and I feel so much guilt

for never telling you thank you for this life rebuilt.

But I look into the dark night sky,

and suddenly I realize,

I cannot be sad, I cannot show grief.

Because I'd go right back to what I used to be

You made my life something new,

and that's the reason why I love you.
