Crimes are happening everywhere! Do you live in a gated community with security? it no longer matters. Criminals are not only getting braver but they are also becoming more intelligent.
What are your going to do about it?
A security system, have your neighbors watch your house while you are out and about, or invest in a guard dog? The choice is yours. If you decide to invest in a guard dog, do your research. Not every breed is good for the job and some may not be suitable for your family or living conditions.
I believe that a guard dog in homes drastically lowers your chances of being a victim of a burglary, I am not saying go out and buy the first big dog you can find and expect it to do the trick. This is a process you need to be patient with. Research difrent breeds and make sure the one you chose is a good guardian breed. Go to the breeder you chose to buy froms home and see the parents of the puppies. Check what the breeder offers and the temperament of the parents. Play with the puppies and make sure you bond with one another, if you have children make sure they are a breed that is suitable for a home that has children (some breeds are aggressive toward kids).
I am going to give you a list of brreds that are suited for estate and personal protection. there are other breeds out there that would fit the job so don't think you are likited only to the breeds I list. I will also give a brief summary of each breed.

They are naturally wary of strangers and other animals. They should be well socialized from an early age to avoid unwanted aggression. They are highly pack oriented and need to be part of the family. If left unattended in the yard of house they could become very destructive to the area they are left in. Akitas should never be taken to off leash dog parts due to their dominant behavior. They are a large and powerful breed. Akitas are devoted to the children in the pack, so if you have kids it will not be a problem with this breed. They are a excellent house dog but require adequate exercise. They are known to be very quiet dogs only barking when there is a reason to due so. The Akita stands 24 to 28 inches tall and weights 70 to 130 LBS.
4.) At number four is the Rottweiler. The Rottweiler if well trained and socialized can be a reliable, loving companion. In general
