Poetry: I'm here

by Timothy Franklin

Created on: November 22, 2008

Another day passes, the moon is full
and my heart is still empty, lonely.
I wait for you, wherever you are
I can't stand always being an "only".

"Where are you?" I wonder aloud
as I pull the covers to my chin.
Then my eyes close and I dream
of you and I can't help but grin.

I just want what others have;
is that really so much to ask?
I have so much to give her
if only she'd take off her mask.

Another night has passed
and I'm still feeling empty, alone.
The day has come full of cheer
mocking my feelings, the sun shone.

If only she were close by;
if I only knew she were somewhere near.
I would call out to her
to get her attention and shout, "I'm here!"
