Poetry: Only time will tell

I waited eagerly to grow up
To get on to my own two feet
Hoping that one day, my love I will find
It happened just as I thought.
The rugged look tall and blond.

I loved him from the time I set eyes on him
Did everything I could to make him happy
But, all I got from him was a cold shoulder
Never wanting to smile, just frown forever
Listen, I said to myself, only time will tell.

I would wake up early morning, to cook him a meal
While he lay under the covers, so indifferent
Lay breakfast at the table, and hurry to take a shower
Not a word of thanks to me, but he was gone in a hour
My aching heart, would whisper, Only time will tell.

Made up mind to close this chapter of love
Return to my thoughts and just love myself
Haunting memories of this rugged tall blond
Clouded my mind, once again
Wait, I heard a voice, only time will tell.

Walked away one pleasant morning
Closing the door to my memories
Hello! a shout echoed through my mind
Turning back, he stood dumbfounded.

Waving, I shouted "Only time will tell".
