The Spirits Rise
Demons whisper
offering the devil
his own dark night
the day declared
after the hallow of its eve
comes to life
you will find the sky
laced with wicked spirits
even ghosts are horrified
the boring eyes of a spider
suddenly take on a haunting fear
eerie clouds move about
and in the wind you
will feel the wickedness
Something is lurking
sweeping over the land
It is not an imposer
nor a disguise
not a costume
or a masquerade party
The cover of the graves
have been released
The night will conceal
its own face molded
in the likeness of a head
made after death
shadows torment the earth
as supernatural beings reunite
In the previous haunted dream of life
they now seek revenge
Urgently they preoccupy
the stealth air
This night is their stamping ground
for they too were once haunted
by unpleasant memories
Creatures now of strength
push the dirt upward
It is the waking of the dead
that terrifies
Tame animals will bolt
Wild ones will stand petrified
There are few who ever come
face to face with these evil spirits
None live to tell of it
Just before midnight
if you listen to the stillness in the woods
you will hear their eerie howl
as they once again
return to the strange dirt
An evil omen rests
deep in solid ground
The curse dead and buried
by humanity
Those above the dirt
say you are all dead
They are liars

Halloween
Dark is the night on this last October eve,
