Are you doing a homework or perhaps your thesis? Bibme is a website that will be useful for you. It is a free website that you can use to collect citations and create bibliographies. On the site you will find several tabs with the categories of sources for citations that can be used to conduct research: book, magazine, newspaper, website, journal, film and other. If you choose the tab headed "Other" you can find the following subcategories: interview, lecture, Radio/TV, Encyclopedia or may suggest a new subcategory. It easy to create a bibliography. To enter your citations you have autofill mode and manual entry mode alternatives.
Using autofill mode you can search bibliographic data. For books, you can search by title, author or by International Standard Book Number (ISBN). If you are looking for articles from magazines, newspapers and magazines can be found by title or are you looking to find the movie? You can search by title, director or actor. Autofill mode only works in the categories book, magazine, newspaper, journal and film. If you want to stop writing your bibliography and continue working on it later, you can save your bibliography in your account. Opening and account in Bibme is easy you only fill in a small form with your email and other information, then they confirm your account sending an email to you.
When you use manual entry mode you click on the tab corresponding to your source, fill in the blanks and press "Add to my bibliography." The sources added appear in the right side of your screen in the column headed "My Bibliography." Also, on the screen appears suggested sources to read, and you have the options start a new bibliography, download the file with your bibliography in rich text format (.rtf) that you can read in Word or OpenOffice and save into to account.
Bibme use several standardized methods of citing sources or formats, these are the Modern Language Association (MLA), the American Psychological Association (APA), the University of Chicago publications guidelines (Chicago) and the Turabian style similar to Chicago focused in dissertations, thesis and research papers. You can choose the style that you want, if you do not like the choice, you can change it to another. In addition, you can find in the site the citation guide for the styles MLA, APA and Chicago.
This site has no groups, has a blog. In this blog we can only comment on the posts that put the owners of the site. In this site you cannot communicate with other users, nor see their bibliographies. Respect to autofill mode using ISBN needs to improve. I tried to find citations for ten different books using ISBN and no citations was obtained. Althought autofill mode needs improving, Bibme is a great tool that saves a lot of time writing bibliographies and is very useful for researchers, students, and people that need to write a bibliography.
