the sound of what, at the time, seemed to prehistoric man, like the wind, or breeze. These 'flutes' had between five to eight holes, and would be manipulated much like the flutes of the present day.
Also, drums where such an important part of pre history. Not only where they used for the very earliest music, but they were also used as a communication device between people, tribes. They were also used extensively in Shamanistic rituals. Human Beings found that by stretching the dried skin of an animal over simple frames of wood, they could communicate over vast distances with each other, without having to leave their homes. To sum up, music is the 'bread of life'. It is the only language that is universally recognized and understood. The only language that can transport you back to the past, instantly, for the good or bad. The only language that touches the heart of every human being upon this planet. Whether it be the ancient beat of a drum, a certain chord struck in a rock song, a melodic chant from a religious order, a classical piece, whatever it is, music brings, happiness, tears in the eyes and a lump in the throat. I feel that no other language we know off, can come anywhere near to the feelings that music brings us. Indeed, music is truly spiritual.
