MOLLY THE MOTH

Molly the moth would always cry, "I want to be a butterfly!"

She wished and she wished to get one chance to become a butterfly before the big dance.

When Molly woke on the day of, she heard a voice that came from above.

"Wishes come true and this one's for you. Stand in the mirror and sing me a song. You are a moth but not for long."

Just when Molly was about to sing, the voice interrupted to warn of one thing.

"Being a butterfly can be very special. However! Be sure you think this through because this wish is forever."

She stopped and thought, "I might disappoint mom" but all Molly wanted was to be Queen of the Prom.

When Molly was finished singing her song she felt very tired and started to yawn.

"The magic is working," thought Molly as she sat on her bed.

"AHHH I'll just sit here for a moment and rest my head."

The next thing you know she woke up late and started to get ready in a frantic state.

"OH NO!" squeaked Molly. "What shall I do first?"

"Where's my dress, my shoes, my purse?"

Molly was rushing, rushing so fast, she didn't even notice she was a butterfly at last.

Quickly she showered and dried her hair. She grabbed her makeup but stopped to stare.

In front of the mirror, Molly stood tall, but tears filled her eyes and started to fall.

The butterfly was beautiful, shiny and bright but Molly was a moth and it didn't feel right.

Molly thought hard about mom and dad. She new the whole family would be very sad.

She snuck down the steps and out the back door. She cut through some yards her feet were so sore.

Finally she made it to the big dance. There were limos and children sporting their best pants.

"Oh boy" thought Molly, "everyone is here!" "Wait till they see me, I'm sure they will cheer!"

"I'm here" said Molly in a snobby voice. "If you're voting for prom queen, I'm the best choice!"

She slid on the dance floor and yelled, "LOOK AT ME"! Spreading her wings wide, they WERE a sight to see.

Molly's looks had gone to her head. She jumped up on stage, "I'M PERFECT!" She said.

She felt like a model ruling the stage. She even said proudly, "IM THE LATEST RAGE!"

But in her haste she didn't see. The stage was two steps longer but Molly took three.

She fell so quickly there was no time at all for her wings to catch wind and break Molly's fall.

When Molly looked up, she saw a white light but Molly was blinded cause the light was too bright.

Then she felt funny from the bump on her head. The next thing you know she woke in bed.

Molly jumped up and looked at the clock, ran to the mirror and stood there in shock.

"I'm a moth", she chirped! "And now I see. A moth is beautiful, beautiful indeed!"

Molly got dressed in no time at all. Her mother was so proud she started to ball.

All the family took pictures together. Molly would remember this day forever.

Suddenly Molly heard a honk outside. "Oh boy,"! She yelped, "It must be my ride."

There it was the limo full of friends. They all hugged and laughed no need for amends.

All night long Molly was glowing. She was so confident it started showing.

Molly didn't care about being the most popular. She was herself and cold not be happier.

When all the girls lined up on the stage, the children were chanting, "MOLLY'S THE LATEST RAGE!"

Molly knew she was so blessed. She didn't get Prom Queen but she did get best dressed.
