How your astrological sign affects your personality

The twelve signs of the Zodiac have a myriad of meanings and associations. People born under each sign are ascribed the characteristics identified with the sign and this is what determined ones personality and the way one acts.

To better understand the basic traits of each of the Zodiac signs, the signs are divided into three main groups. Observing which of the groups each sign falls into can help to determine its meaning. The three groups are:

Triplicities (or elements)

Quadruplicities (or modes)

Polarities.

The Triplicities group the Zodiac signs according to the element with which they correspond fire, air, earth and water. The Quadruplicities segment the signs into categories that best describe their traits: cardinal, fixed and mutable. The polarities divide the Zodiac signs into a set of opposites, termed either feminine and masculine, or positive and negative.

Looking at the allocated groupings of your sign can give you a better insight into your own personality.

For example, if your astrological sign is Aries, you are a positive, cardinal fire sign. You are likely to be an energetic, overactive person, highly motivated and driven. You are sociable and communicative; overall you are quite an extrovert.

TRIPLICITIES

The twelve Zodiac signs are divided into four groups of three, each known as a triplicity. Each triplicity is known as an element: fire, earth, air or water.

FIRE: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius

Fire signs are energetic, impulsive, confident and motivated. If you have a lot of fire in your chart, you are dominating, fast-paced and invest all of your energy into what you do.

EARTH: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn

Earth signs are practical, realistic, patient, dependable and thorough. If you have a lot of earth in your chart, you are concerned with concrete details and tangible results.

AIR: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius

Air signs are intellectual, objective, talkative, indecisive and observant. If you have a lot of air in your chart, you live in your mind, restlessly seeking knowledge and sharing ideas.

WATER: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

Water signs are moody, sensitive, secretive, intuitive and vulnerable. If you have a lot of water in your chart, you frequently lose yourself in your feelings, or in the emotions of others.
