When I think about talking and communicating, it makes me want to reference a book that I used for a class on interpersonal communications. I do have to say that it was one of my favorite courses. With this class, I was able to see the world and life with a clearer perspective. One of the things I have learned is that communicating is much more than talking.
There is more to communications than just talking. Talking is just saying words. Words are empty without actions to back them up. You can talk a good talk; but, can you walk a good walk? While a person can tall all s/he wants, without action, those words are simply empty. The words are meaningless. At best, these words would be nothing more than empty rhetoric.
Politicians tend to use this to their advantage. One could say the other is just saying things without backing them up. One example is that you can accuse someone of something. Without actions and/or evidence to back it up, those accusations are empty. With actions and/or evidence, then those words are by no means empty. It would be through actions that these words would be full of substance.
In my old college textbook, it explains that meanings are not in words. This is a major misconception in regards to communication. Just because you are saying something, it does not mean you are communicating the same thing. Also, words can be interpreted in many different ways. Words can be interpreted in either good ways or bad ways. It is not good if your words are interpreted badly.
Plus, actions do speak louder than words.
If talking and communicating were the same things, all of humanity would cease to exist. We would have ceased to exist thousands of years ago. Still, the origins of the human race are still unknown.
There is still the "intelligent design vs. evolution argument." That argument is not going to end for a very long time. However, this is not about the origins of the human race. Chances are, there were many different ways of communication other than words. There are many different ways to communicate with one other instead of having to talk with words.
One prime example would be newborn infants. They are not going to know how to talk. Unless any of them are named Stewie Griffin, chances are that none of them will be able to talk until there are at least one or two years old. They have to learn how to talk with words.
If the baby is hungry, s/he is going to cry. It is the baby's only way of communicating that out. If the baby needs a diaper change,
