I know you Florida football fans are not going to like to hear this, but I do not think Tim Tebow will be a success in the NFL. There is no doubt in my mind that Tebow will make it to the NFL, but, like many other college football superstars, the NFL is not where they will find success. Yes, Tim Tebow has achieved many great things in the NCAA, but that is because he is bigger and better than everyone else.
Just wait till he experiences the NFL, where he is not the best player on the field. The NFL is especially hard for rookies. There is so much more pressure in the NFL. The whole focus of the game is you. When your team makes a mistake, the quarterback gets the blame. There is a huge difference between making a mistake in college and making a mistake in the NFL.
This difference is pretty big, like lets say millions of dollars. Yes, Tim Tebow is a phenomenal football player. I just don't think he will succeed in the NFL.
You must also remember that without his team, he is nothing. As I said earlier, quarterbacks are blamed for failure. But, on the flip side of that, they receive the glory for their team's victories. The current Florida teams is great. They have a lot of skill in their depth chart. When we think of Florida's success, Tim Tebow is given a little too much credit.
Without skilled linemen, he wouldn't have enough time to do anything for his Florida offense. Without skilled receivers, he wouldn't have as many completions. His success comes mainly from his team. Don't get me wrong, Tebow is a great football player, but he just gets too much credit.
College football players that are at the same skill level as Tebow will succeed in college, but not always in the NFL. This is not always the case, but it is pretty common. Lets take a look at a great football player like Tom Brady. Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He was not very popular in college, then he was drafted in the sixth round. Just look at how successful he is in the NFL.
Now, lets look at a quarterback like Brady Quinn. Brady Quinn was very popular in college. He was drafted in the first round and given all this hype. Then he gets to sit on the bench. After he was drafted, I did not hear anything about him. Great college players will get drafted early. Well now, what kinds of teams get the first picks in the draft? Oh, that's right, terrible teams. It takes more than one good player to make a team better.
Now, Tim Tebow may not be the most successful player in the NFL, but I wouldn't mind getting paid to sit on the bench. I would argue that everyone in the NFL is successful, regardless of playing time or popularity. I can say this because they all make more than the average citizen. Not only that, a lot of people get paid that much to sit on the bench.
So, based on popularity, no, Tebow will not be a success in the NFL. But, based on income, yes, Tebow will be very successful. It just depends on how you define success.
